What’s a day of Summer Camp like at Jump Gymnastics?
The kids have two dedicated gym sessions each day. The first gym session is with our highly qualified coaches that focuses on your child’s five BIG skills for the week and another that is dedicated to super fun games that tie the learning together.
Our Individualized Learning Cards (ILC) support us to tailor your child’s camp experience and help them develop five specific skills related to the camp theme. Your child’s coach will support your child to reach the goals on their ILC through one on one work and independent time during the gym session.
The second gym session is filled with non-competitive games that are designed for kids to participate fully (no waiting in line!), leave room for creativity, and help build skills. Our games are designed to be simple, with a familiar format and few rules. This approach ensures that kids can easily understand the game and focus on having fun. Kids learn best through fun and play! Your little one will be learning social skills, motor skills, planning, listening… the list goes on! Often, this is a child’s favourite part of gymnastics and they get to move their bodies creatively while having a ton of fun!
Often families ask us, shouldn’t my kid spend all day in the gym? As much as we love spending time in the gym - we find that two gym sessions that focus on different types of learning best support skill development and enjoyment at camp.
When the kids are not in the gym we focus on active rest and “flexing” our other muscles. We work on process driven crafts (to improve fine motor skills and concentration), reading and literature time (to improve our language and communication skills), and heading outdoors to play (nature’s benefits are endless!). We make sure to fuel our bodies too! Kids bring food from home (we recommend two snacks and a lunch) and we make sure there is time in the day to enjoy our food to make sure we have energy to move our bodies!
Our super fun themes tie all the fun and learning together
Every one of our summer camps has an exciting theme. Camp themes transform each camp into a thrilling and engaging adventure for the kids. Our themes are educational and promote learning in a fun way. We connect our camp themes to the five BIG skills that your child will be developing during the week of camp.
